  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Substitution: Fresh minced garlic (1 clove) can replace 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste based on dietary needs.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Can adjust to taste.

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • large skillet

Method

How to Make Walnut Meat
  1. Start by placing the walnut halves and cremini mushrooms in a food processor. Pulse them together until crumbly, taking care not to overprocess into a purée.
  2. Heat a generous splash of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add your walnut-mushroom mixture and spread it out evenly in the pan.
  3. Stir the mixture occasionally for about 10-12 minutes until it turns a deep, rich brown and develops an enticing aroma.
  4. Once browned to perfection, remove the skillet from heat and use this walnut meat in your tacos, burritos, or sprinkle it over grain bowls.
