Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, and optional spices until well combined.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the large eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract, and orange zest into the butter mixture. Blend until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well incorporated. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  5. Scoop the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the vibrant orange and black sanding sugar.
  6. Place the cookie dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes.
  7. Let them cool on a rack before enjoying! Decorate with festive icing and sprinkles if desired.
