Cooking the Salmon
- Heat butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper. Place skin-side up in the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the fillets carefully and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Remove salmon from the skillet and tent with foil to keep warm.
- Whisk together orange juice, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and cornstarch slurry (if using).
- Lower the skillet heat to medium and combine the mixture.
- Cook the glaze until hot, stirring frequently. If using cornstarch, allow it to thicken for 30-60 seconds.
- Return the salmon to the pan, coating with glaze. Add optional orange slices for garnish.
