Ingredients

For the Base
  • 3 cups roasted red peppers
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup unseasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
For the Flavor Boost
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sumac
  • 1 teaspoon Aleppo chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Food Processor

Method

Instructions
  1. In a food processor, add the roasted red peppers, walnuts, breadcrumbs, peeled garlic, tomato paste, olive oil, pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, sumac, chili flakes, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Blend the mixture until it's a fine consistency, making sure to avoid turning it into a puree. You want a texture that's smooth yet hearty!
  3. Give your Muhammara a taste! Adjust with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed, to achieve that perfect balance of flavors.
  4. Transfer the dip to a serving plate. Garnish with crushed walnuts, a drizzle of olive oil, a splash of pomegranate molasses for sweetness, and a sprinkle of fresh parsley for that pop of color.
  5. Enjoy your Muhammara with fresh pita bread or pita wedges, allowing those lovely flavors to shine!
