  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru or Gochujang Use gochugaru for smokiness or Gochujang for spice.
  • ½ tablespoon rice vinegar Substitute with apple cider or white vinegar if needed.
  • cup water Cold or room temperature water helps with sauce consistency.
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced for a fragrant kick.
  • 2 green onions finely chopped Adds fresh brightness.
For Garnish
  • 1 green onion finely chopped Optional garnish.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds For added crunch and nuttiness.

Equipment

  • Large Pan
  • Baking Sheet

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Drain the block of tofu from its packaged liquids. Carefully slice the tofu into 2.5-inch-long rectangles that are about ⅓-inch thick.
  2. Pat dry the tofu slices by placing them flat in a single layer on a paper towel-lined baking sheet or plate. Use additional paper towels to absorb any remaining moisture.
  3. Sprinkle salt evenly over the tofu slices and let them rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients in a small bowl, stirring until well mixed.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Once hot, pan fry tofu pieces for about 2-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the tofu in the pan. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  7. Optional: Garnish with more green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
