Ingredients
  

For the Tofu
  • 1 lb block tofu Firm or extra-firm tofu works best.
  • ¾ teaspoon salt Helps to draw out moisture.
For the Sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce Regular or light soy sauce can be used.
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar Balances the saltiness.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds a nutty aroma.
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru Provides mild heat and color.
  • ½ tablespoon rice vinegar Adds acidity.
  • cup water Helps in mixing the sauce.
For Garnishing
  • 1 unit green onion Finely chopped.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds Optional but adds crunch.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Drain and slice the tofu into 2.5-inch-long rectangles, about ⅓-inch thick.
  2. Pat dry on a baking sheet using a paper towel.
  3. Sprinkle ¾ teaspoon of salt over the tofu slices and set aside for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix the sauce ingredients in a small bowl: soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, gochugaru, rice vinegar, and water.
  5. Heat 1.5 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and pan-fry the tofu pieces for 2-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Pour the sauce over the crispy tofu and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce reduces.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and optional sesame seeds.
