How to Make 20 Minute Thai Basil Beef Rolls
- Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet, add the ground beef and season with black pepper. Cook over medium heat, breaking up the meat until it's browned, about 5 minutes.
- Sauté aromatics: Add chopped garlic, grated ginger, and Chinese 5 spice to the skillet. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Simmer the sauce: Pour in tamari or soy sauce and Thai chili sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes until sauce coats the beef. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped green onions, then remove from heat.
- Warm the tortillas: Lightly microwave each tortilla for 15 seconds. This makes them soft and easy to handle.
- Assemble the rolls: Spoon a portion of the beef mixture down the center of a tortilla, then top with cucumber, cilantro, basil, green onion, and roasted peanuts. Fold over the tortilla, tucking in the sides and rolling forward. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Serve warm: Arrange rolls on a plate and serve with extra soy sauce, chili paste, and toasted sesame oil for dipping.
