  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based options
  • 1 medium Onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce/Salsa or swap with diced tomatoes
For the Shells
  • 12 pieces Taco Shells hard taco shells
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese mix of cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Pepper Jack
  • Fresh Toppings (optional) shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, chopped cilantro, sour cream, guacamole

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the hard taco shells upright in a baking dish.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the diced onion until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then stir in minced garlic and taco seasoning for 1 minute. Mix in the tomato sauce or salsa and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Fill each taco shell with the beef mixture, and top with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melty and the shells are golden brown.
  6. Top each taco with fresh ingredients such as lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Serve warm.
