Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Cookie cutter

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and Italian seasoning. Pour in warm water and olive oil, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
  2. If you’re not using quick-rise yeast, let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough is ready, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cute heart shapes.
  5. On the center of one heart-shaped cutout, place a small spoonful of pizza sauce, followed by mozzarella, cheddar, and pepperoni.
  6. Brush the edges of the dough with water, cover it with another heart shape, and seal the edges with a fork to secure the filling.
  7. Arrange the calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 14-17 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before digging in.
