  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 envelope Brown Gravy Mix Homemade gravy can replace this.
  • 2 cups Water Consider using beef broth for richer flavor.
For the Vegetables
  • 1 large Onion Chopped yellow or white onions work well.
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper Substitute with red, yellow, or orange bell peppers.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced; garlic powder works if fresh isn't available.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Season the sirloin steaks generously with smoked paprika, onion powder, and your favorite steak seasoning.
  2. Sear the steaks in a medium skillet over medium-high heat with butter for about 2 minutes on each side.
  3. Sauté the onions, green peppers, and garlic in the same skillet until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Mix in the flour to the sautéed vegetables and stir for about 1 minute.
  5. Transfer the seared steaks to the slow cooker. Add the sautéed veggies, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and water.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 4 hours until the steak is tender.
  7. Whisk in a second envelope of brown gravy mix once cooked, stirring until smooth and creamy.
  8. Serve the smothered steak over a bed of fluffy rice or creamy mashed potatoes.
