  • 1 cup Dried Chickpeas Soaked overnight
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda Can substitute with baking powder
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped
  • 1 cup Fresh Parsley Essential for flavor
  • 1 cup Fresh Mint Best when fresh
  • 0.5 cup Fresh Dill Highly recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin Can substitute with coriander or paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Or 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Spices Cinnamon, anise, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup Rice Flour Can substitute with chickpea flour or cornstarch
  • 2 cups Oil for Frying Vegetable or peanut oil
For Serving
  • 1 cup Hummus For dipping
  • 4 pieces Pita Bread Soft and fluffy
  • 2 cups Fresh Vegetables Cucumber, tomato, and lettuce

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Soak dried chickpeas and baking soda in water overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse soaked chickpeas. Blend them with onion, fresh herbs, spices, and flour in a food processor until coarse.
  3. Scoop and roll the mixture into small balls or patties. Chill for at least 1 hour on parchment-lined trays.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet, fry falafel balls in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with hummus or inside pita with fresh veggies.
