Ingredients
  

For the Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or ground lamb for variation
  • 2 tbsp Ghee or Clarified Butter can substitute with olive oil or regular butter
  • 1 medium Onion yellow or white onion works well
For the Flavoring
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon avoid substitutes for authenticity
  • 1 tsp Allspice stick to this spice for authenticity
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Pine Nuts or slivered almonds as a substitute
  • to taste Fresh Parsley optional but recommended

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast pine nuts for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Melt ghee in a cast iron skillet, sauté onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef, cook for 8-10 minutes until browned and crumbly.
  4. Mix in cinnamon, allspice, salt and pepper; cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in toasted pine nuts evenly with the beef mixture.
  6. Serve on plates, garnish with fresh parsley, and optionally serve with tahini sauce or turmeric rice.
