Making the Nougat Candy
- In a saucepan, mix granulated sugar, corn syrup, honey, and water. Heat over medium until bubbling and the sugar fully dissolves, creating a glossy syrup.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Stir in egg whites and salt until everything is well combined and smooth.
- Gently fold in vanilla extract, chopped nuts, and dried fruits (add chocolate chips if desired). Make sure the mixture is evenly distributed.
- Spoon the mixture into a lined baking dish, pressing down firmly with a spatula. Smooth the top to ensure even bars once set.
- Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, allowing the bars to firm up completely before serving.
- Once set, cut into bars while still in the dish. Serve immediately or store for later snacking!
- Optional: Drizzle with melted dark chocolate for an extra treat.
