How to Make Spiced Pear Jam
  1. Prepare the canner by filling it about two-thirds full with water and bringing it to a boil.
  2. Chop the pears by peeling, coring, and chopping them into small pieces.
  3. In a large pot, combine chopped pears, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and pectin powder.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. Ladle hot spiced pear jam into sterilized ½ pint jars, leaving ¼ inch of headspace.
  6. Seal the jars with two-piece caps and process in the boiling-water canner for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove jars from the canner and let cool on a towel for 24 hours.
