  • 1 cup warm whole milk helps activate the yeast
  • 2 teaspoons yeast for rising
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 large eggs enrich the dough
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour adjust as needed
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar rich flavor
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 0.5 cup freshly grated parmesan
  • 0.5 cup chopped Italian herbs mix of sage, oregano, basil, and thyme
  • 3 cloves grated garlic

Method
 

Making the Bread
  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and honey in a stand mixer bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add eggs, flour, and salt; mix until smooth, about 4-5 minutes. Adjust flour as necessary.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 1 hour.
  4. Mix shredded cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, Italian herbs, and grated garlic in a separate bowl.
  5. Punch the risen dough down and roll out to a 12 x 18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Sprinkle the cheese-herb mixture evenly across the dough.
  7. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  8. Slice the log in half lengthwise and twist the halves to expose the filling.
  9. Coil the twisted dough into a circle and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Brush with melted butter before serving, if desired.
