Ingredients

For the Pastry
  • 1 package Puff Pastry Can be substituted with phyllo dough for a lighter texture.
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Goat Cheese Creamy tangy flavor; cream cheese can serve as a milder alternative.
  • 1 cup Blackberries Natural sweetness; can substitute with raspberries or blueberries.
For the Finish
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash; a milk wash can work as a dairy-free substitute.
  • 2 tbsp Sugar To sprinkle; omit or use sugar substitute for lower sugar version.

Equipment

  • oven
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • mixing bowl

Method

How to Make
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures a perfectly crispy texture as the twists bake to golden perfection.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to stretch it into a rectangle, then cut it into even strips to form the twists.
  3. Spread goat cheese along one side of each pastry strip. Be generous! Layer the creamy cheese and follow with a handful of fresh blackberries.
  4. Fold the pastry over to encase the filling. Make sure to press the edges firmly to seal them shut.
  5. Twist each pastry strip gently. This adds an elegant shape and helps the filling peek through.
  6. Brush the tops with an egg wash, then sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
