Instant Pot Method
- Rinse dried navy beans under cold water to remove impurities.
- Place rinsed beans in the Instant Pot with the ham bone, cubed ham, and enough water to cover ingredients.
- Lock the lid and set to HIGH pressure for 90 minutes.
- After cooking, perform a natural pressure release for 15 minutes.
- Remove the ham bone, shred any meat, and return it to the pot.
Stovetop Method
- Boil rinsed beans in a large pot for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour.
- Drain beans, then add soaked beans, ham bone, cubed ham, and enough water to pot.
- Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for at least 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the ham bone, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
