  • 1 pretzel rod or bell pepper stem Used for the decorative stem.
  • fresh parsley leaves optional, enhances presentation.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • plastic wrap
  • refrigerator
  • Serving Platter

Method

Making the Cheese Ball
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sharp cheddar, sour cream, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Beat the mixture until it's beautifully smooth and well-blended—aim for a creamy consistency.
  2. Transfer the creamy mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap. Gather it together and shape it into a ball, wrapping it tightly. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
  3. Once chilled, unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in crushed cheese crackers or finely chopped pecans until fully covered. The crunch of the coating will add delightful texture!
  4. To give it that charming pumpkin look, use kitchen twine or uncooked spaghetti to create ridges around the ball. Remove the twine or spaghetti gently once done, allowing the unique pumpkin shape to shine.
  5. Carefully insert a pretzel rod or a bell pepper stem at the top of the cheese ball to mimic a real pumpkin stem. For an extra touch, garnish with fresh parsley leaves for a pop of color.
  6. Allow the cheese ball to sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving. This will enhance its creaminess and flavor—don't forget to prepare an assortment of dippers on the side!
