  • 4 cloves garlic freshly minced preferred
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin essential for flavor
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander for bright citrus notes
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika provides a smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric adds warmth and color
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice or vinegar as substitute
  • 1 large red onion sliced

How to Make Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Add the boneless, skinless chicken thighs to the marinade and coat them thoroughly.
  3. Slice the red onion and place it at the bottom of the slow cooker. Layer the marinated chicken on top.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low heat for about 4 hours.
  5. Carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred or slice it to your preference.
