  • 4 slices Sourdough Bread or ciabatta or focaccia
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella packed in water
  • 2 medium Roma Tomatoes or any ripe tomato
  • 2 cups Arugula or baby spinach
  • 10 leaves Fresh Basil Leaves dried basil not recommended
  • 1/2 cup Homemade Basil Pesto store-bought pesto as alternative
For the Crunch
  • 2 tbsp Butter or olive oil
For the Sweetness
  • 1/4 cup Balsamic Glaze or mix red wine vinegar and honey

How to Make Balsamic Glazed Caprese Sandwich
  1. Prepare Balsamic Glaze: Simmer balsamic vinegar and honey in a small pot over medium heat, stirring occasionally until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove and let cool.
  2. Butter & Assemble Sandwich: Butter one side of each slice of bread. Spread pesto on unbuttered side, layer arugula, basil leaves, tomato slices, and mozzarella. Drizzle with cooled balsamic glaze.
  3. Top & Grill: Place second slice of bread on top, buttered side out. Heat panini press or grill pan over medium heat and grill sandwich for 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
