Prepare the Bars
- Mix flour, brown sugar, salt, and very cold butter in a bowl until crumbly. Press this mixture evenly into a greased 20x30 cm baking pan to form a solid base.
- Cook chopped dried figs in water over medium heat until soft. Blend them with a splash of lemon juice until smooth, then spread this fig paste over the crust.
- In a separate bowl, blend cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and the egg until silky smooth. Pour this mixture over the fig layer and spread it evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 30 minutes. Look for the center to be just set with a slight jiggle when done.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan, then chill them in the refrigerator. Once chilled, slice into bars for neat presentation.
