Preparation Steps
- Thaw puff pastry: Take the frozen sheets out and place them on your kitchen counter for about 30 minutes.
- Make ganache: Heat the heavy cream until steaming, then pour it over the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for 1.5 minutes, then stir until completely smooth.
- Prepare cream cheese filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Mix in the sugar and vanilla extract.
- Cut pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut into 12 rectangles. Press seams to seal.
- Add filling: Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry rectangle.
- Egg wash: Whisk together the egg and water, then brush around the edges of each pastry.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake danishes for 17-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Top with ganache: After cooling, drizzle the chocolate ganache over the cream cheese filling.
