Ingredients
  

For the Slaw
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots pre-shredded saves time
  • 1 cup finely chopped broccoli florets can substitute with sliced bell peppers
  • 1 bunch sliced green onions chives can be used as a substitute
  • 1 cup crispy chow mein noodles or fried wonton strips use gluten-free noodles for a gluten-free version
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds optional for garnish
For the Dressing
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar can substitute with apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup use maple syrup for vegan
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil can use regular sesame oil if needed
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil sunflower or canola oil are alternatives
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger fresh ginger preferred
  • 2 cloves minced garlic fresh is best
  • 1 tablespoon juice of lime lemon juice can be used if lime isn’t available
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili paste optional for heat

Method
 

Steps
  1. Prep the veggies by shredding the green and red cabbage, and carrots; chop the broccoli into small florets, and slice the green onions.
  2. In a bowl or jar, combine all dressing ingredients. Whisk together until smooth and well-blended.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the shredded cabbage, carrots, broccoli, and green onions. Pour the sesame dressing over and toss until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Before serving, sprinkle the slaw with crispy noodles or wontons, along with sesame seeds.
  5. Enjoy immediately for the best crunch, or refrigerate it without toppings.
