- Preheat your oven to 450°F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch casserole dish generously.
- Spread 2 cups of uncooked basmati rice at the bottom. Add the diced onion and soup mix if using. Top with 5 tablespoons of your chosen fat.
- Pour in 6 cups of water or chicken broth evenly.
- Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 325°F and bake for an additional 1 hour and 40 minutes without stirring.
