How to Make Quick and Easy Hash Browns
  1. Peel russet potatoes or keep the skin on for added texture. Shred into a large bowl.
  2. Transfer shredded potatoes to a kitchen towel and squeeze out moisture.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded potatoes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
  4. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  5. Spread seasoned potatoes in a thin layer in the skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip hash browns and cook for another 3–4 minutes until golden on the other side. Add cheese if desired.
  7. Serve immediately with eggs, bacon, or toast. Optional: add ketchup, sour cream, or hot sauce.
