How to Make Quick and Easy Hash Browns
- Peel russet potatoes or keep the skin on for added texture. Shred into a large bowl.
- Transfer shredded potatoes to a kitchen towel and squeeze out moisture.
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded potatoes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
- Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Spread seasoned potatoes in a thin layer in the skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip hash browns and cook for another 3–4 minutes until golden on the other side. Add cheese if desired.
- Serve immediately with eggs, bacon, or toast. Optional: add ketchup, sour cream, or hot sauce.
