- Peel the lotus root and slice it into thin rounds, about an eighth of an inch thick.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Add the lotus root slices and stir-fry them until they turn lightly golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Stir well to coat the lotus root slices.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes until it becomes glossy.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and any optional chili peppers over the top before serving.
