Ingredients

For the Wontons
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil Needed for frying; can also use oil with a higher smoke point like canola.
  • 20 pieces Wonton Wrappers Cut diagonally for a perfect shape, or substitute with egg roll wrappers.
For the Cream Mixture
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Make sure it’s at room temperature for effortless mixing.
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Can be omitted for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup Crab Meat (cooked or imitation) Shredded imitation crab is a budget-friendly choice.
For the Fresh Toppings
  • 1 whole Hass Avocado Adds creaminess and texture; swap with diced cherry tomatoes.
  • 1 whole Persian Cucumber Provides a fresh, crisp bite; replace with any thinly sliced cucumber.
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Can use chives as a substitute for a different taste.
For Drizzling & Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Chili Sauce Essential for that sweet-savory drizzle.
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds Optional if you need to simplify.

Equipment

  • Deep fryer or skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • Baking Sheet

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a deep-fryer or skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (180ºC) for frying your wonton wrappers to crispy perfection.
  2. Fry wonton halves in small batches for about 30 seconds, turning golden brown. Drain on paper towels to keep them extra crispy!
  3. In a mixing bowl, blend cream cheese and mayonnaise until creamy and smooth. Gently fold in crab meat.
  4. Set your oven to broil, ensuring it’s ready to melt the crab mixture on top of the crispy wontons.
  5. Arrange fried wontons on a baking sheet and spoon generous amounts of the crab mixture on top.
  6. Place in the oven and broil for 1-2 minutes until the crab mixture is melty and the tops are bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven and top with diced avocado, cucumber, and green onions. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and lightly sprinkle sesame seeds for a touch of elegance!
