  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes Thinly sliced
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Shredded
  • 1 cup Cheddar Shredded
  • 1 cup Cream Heavy or light
  • 1 cup Milk Can substitute with plant-based milk
  • 4 tbsp Butter For greasing and sauce
  • 1/4 cup Flour For thickening
For Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Parsley or Dill Chopped

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Wash and slice the potatoes thinly, about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Layer the potato slices evenly in the baking dish.
  4. Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then gradually add cream and milk, stirring in onions and seasonings; simmer until thickened.
  5. Stir in mozzarella and cheddar cheese until fully melted.
  6. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil, pour the remaining cheese sauce over, and bake uncovered for another hour until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with parsley or dill, then serve.
