How to Make Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish generously.
- Prepare the potatoes by peeling (optional) and slicing them thinly, about ⅛ inch thick.
- Arrange the potato slices evenly in the prepared baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until smooth, then add the milk and cream gradually.
- Season your sauce with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens.
- Stir in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth.
- Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potato layer and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover the dish and pour the remaining cheese sauce on top. Bake for an additional hour until golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or dill before serving.
