Preparation Steps
- Pat the brisket dry. Mix salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder in a bowl, and rub this seasoning blend generously all over the meat.
- In a large skillet, heat up olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it’s golden brown.
- Place the seared brisket in a slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, sliced onion, and minced garlic. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
- Once cooked, carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Use forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
- In a pan, combine butter, brown sugar, and a little of the beef drippings. Toss in the shredded brisket and quickly sauté for a couple of minutes until everything is beautifully caramelized.
- Serve your caramelized pulled beef brisket right away, served on a soft brioche bun, in tacos, or over creamy mashed potatoes.

Notes
Store leftovers submerged in the cooking juices for optimal moisture. Avoid cooking brisket too quickly on high heat to maintain tenderness.
