  • 4 large Eggs Room temperature for even cooking
For the Smoked Gouda Sauce
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Substitute with half-and-half for lighter option
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Unsalted to control salt levels
  • to taste Salt Adjust to taste
  • to taste Fresh Ground Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 cup Smoked Gouda Cheese Rich, smoky depth; sharp cheddar is an alternative
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun Pepper Powder Optional for added spice
  • 1 cup Whole Milk To adjust cheese sauce consistency
  • 2 tablespoons Flour Necessary for thickening
  • 1 cup Stout Beer Good quality, like Guinness, for flavor

Method
 

How to Make Baked Eggs in Baguette
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the baguette into 4 equal pieces, about 4 inches long, and hollow out the insides.
  3. Brush the insides of each baguette piece with heavy cream and butter.
  4. Stand the baguette portions upright on a lined baking tray. Crack one egg into each piece.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes, then lower to 350°F and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes.
  6. Prepare your cheese sauce while the eggs bake by heating milk, heavy cream, butter, and Cajun seasoning.
  7. Remove the baguette eggs from the oven and top with smoked Gouda sauce.
